Random

For those who care to know, I cleared college in December 2010. I was really excited to leave college and couldn't wait to finally join the "working class". However as time goes by reality is slowly start to hit me. Well, am a great dreamer and in my fantasy world am supposed to be living in my apartment, having this good, fairly paying job (entry level obviously but very high potential for progression) and very independent of my parents. That couldn't be further from the real thing, am still living in my parents house, still rely on them for everything, including fare and clothing money and the prospects of getting employed are close to zero, this is compounded by the fact that I just got back my results and I have performed far much worse than I had anticipated and way below my colleagues. I won't allow all this to affect my dreams though, I will still continue knocking on those doors until one eventually opens.

MY STAND

I could try and put my thoughts on the Kenyan political scene across in a more creative way like write a poem, or a satirical letter but I feel that being direct at times doesn’t hurt at times. Here’s what I’ll do, since am a student answering questions in an exam situation is my specialty so here goes…
1. Give three characteristics you require to be a successful Kenyan politician, include a detailed example for each.
i) Corrupt.
A good example is the maize scandal which involved the Ministries of Agriculture, Special Programmes, Finance and the Office of the Prime Minister. Maize from the Strategic Grain Reserves was allocated to certain briefcase millers, holding imported maize at the port and claiming that it is contaminated only to later sell it at a throw away price. All of this happened when this country was facing a drought. Read more about this here. Note that this is just an example, there are so many corruption scandals to name but a few: Anglo-leasing Scandal, Goldenberg, The one that involved the Ministry of Defense, etc.

ii) Ignorant.
The MPs just passed a Price Control Bill can’t say more about it. Read about it here. Here’s what the local media had to say about it.

iii) Selfish.
Self-centeredness is the most important factor. The best example is our good old President, when he called a state address just to make some ‘clarifications’ about his family ignoring a lot of national issues. This is what a local paper said about it.

2. Indicate whether the following statements are true or false.
a) Kenyan MPs vie for parliament with the noble goal of improving the society and not just to enrich themselves.
Did you say Kenyan MPs, in that case: FALSE
b) 100% of Kenyans are satisfied with their MP.
FALSE
c) MPs act like they are from different planets unless it’s an issue about their salaries.
TRUE

Finally, most of the issues affecting us Kenyans are not solely the fault of our politicians but we are also partly to blame. So urge you my fellow countrymen to be the change you want to see in this country as we try to change our leaders.

Internal Memo

WORK REPORT ON KENYA
To the Big Guy,
Let me first heartily thank you for giving me a chance to work in this beautiful land with its unique people. Working here has been interesting. Listed below is a list of some of the client I worked with.
1.       An arsenal fan, still don’t get why he did it seeing that Arsenal is an English soccer team and has little or no effect in his life.
2.       Drunk drivers, the holiday season is always the busiest season for me. I don’t understand why these people insist on drinking and driving.
3.       P.S.V. passengers, you have to feel sorry for this lot since they are not entirely to blame. Though you can’t help but wonder if they are the ones encouraging the reckless driving.
4.       ‘Shoot to kill’ victims, the Kenya Police just love keeping me busy; a drunk resisting arrest is as good as dead.
5.       Illicit brew drunkards, no explanation needed.
As you can see working in Kenya has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to deal with some of the most unique clients in the world and I once again thank you for posting me here.
Yours,
The Grim Reaper, Kenya.

GET THESE CARS OFF OUR ROADS!!

I seriously don't get why someone would buy one of these cars, they are so ugly I would rather be caught running naked on a busy street, say Moi Avenue, than be seen riding in one of them. I wish you we could all come together and petition their owners to sell them to scrapyards. Here is a list of some of the cars am talking about:

1. Toyota Probox\ Succeed: This car is so ugly that I actually think its meant to be a drive yourself to the grave coffin.

2. Toyota Duet: Is this even a car? My friend claims that you can't drive at speeds greater than 80kph otherwise you risk leaving its body behind.

3.Volkswagen Beetle: Be it the classic model or the new look beetle. Only one word describes this car-frog: UGLY!

There are many other ugly cars on our roads including the Porsche Cayenne(left), BMW X6(right) and many more.
Please get rid of these cars so that our country may have a shot at looking good.

Introductory Post

I guess my first post should be a short introduction. There are many issues that keep one awake at night. I actually struggle to find sleep each and every night. During those hours that am in bed awake, millions of thoughts and ideas run through my mind, one of which is starting this blog. I'll try and put down some of those thoughts and ideas down on this blog and hope you will enjoy reading.
